Asda Goes Trendy with Uniform Overhaul: A Fresh Look for 2026
In its first major redesign in over 12 years, Asda has launched a six-week trial of a new uniform for its store colleagues. More than 2,600 colleagues across 12 stores will be testing a variety of styles, with 10 different types of uniforms tailored to specific roles, such as those in George, Produce, Pharmacy, Bakery, and for Drivers.
This trial comes after detailed feedback from Asda’s colleague representatives. A significant improvement includes the use of breathable fabrics and the addition of natural cotton, particularly aimed at helping colleagues regulate body temperature, which can be especially beneficial for those experiencing peri-menopausal and menopausal symptoms.
Hayley Tatum MBE, Asda’s Chief People and Corporate Affairs Officer, emphasized that the redesign is colleague-driven, ensuring that the final uniform is practical, comfortable, and something they are proud to wear. Asda hopes to launch the new uniform officially by 2026, informed by colleague feedback on factors like fit, comfort, and wearability during the trial period.
This uniform overhaul is part of Asda’s ongoing investment in its workforce, which includes a £150m pay raise for 2024, making it the highest-paying traditional supermarket in the UK. Additionally, the retailer has introduced a workplace savings scheme, in partnership with Wagestream, to provide financial benefits for its 150,000 colleagues.
Asda’s new uniform initiative highlights its commitment to modernizing workwear and improving colleague well-being, while ensuring that the retailer stays ahead in terms of both style and employee satisfaction.
