Lidl books £4B for the UK food industry this year

This year, Lidl plans to invest £4 billion in the British food industry to support suppliers across the country.

This investment is expected to increase the discount grocer’s initial spending plans of £15 billion between 2020 and 2025 to £17 billion.

Lidl currently sources two-thirds of its core produce from the United Kingdom and works directly with over 650 suppliers throughout the country.

“The farmers and producers who supply us, some of whom have been with us for decades, are critical to the success of our business,” said Ryan McDonnell, CEO of Lidl GB.

“We see them as collaborators in our objective to provide families with high-quality, budget – friendly produce, and for many, collaborating with Lidl GB and being a part of our expansion has opened doors for their own growth, both here in the UK and around the world.”
