GLOBALG.A.P. Emergency Procedure for certificate extension

GLOBALG.A.P. Emergency Procedure for certificate extension

We at GLOBALG.A.P. are deeply concerned about the outbreak and rapid
spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and we are
continuing to monitor government and other external advice to assess
the associated risks. We want to do our part to prevent the spread of
the virus, to keep each other safe, and also to ensure that our
members have access to products from certified farms.

Due to movement/travel restrictions within some regions imposed by
governments as a result of the coronavirus, GLOBALG.A.P.
inspections/audits that become due may be postponed.

As already permitted under the current system, GLOBALG.A.P.
certificates may be extended for up to 4 months.

For the COVID-19 pandemic, GLOBALG.A.P. is now introducing a temporary
rule: a maximum certificate extension of 8 months, in order to allow
the certification body (CB) to delay the on-site inspection/audit if
necessary. The precondition for extension beyond 4 months is a
completed remote inspection/audit. During the extension period, a
regular on-site inspection/audit shall take place.

Certificates under extension are considered valid.

Certification bodies have been issued detailed instructions for the
implementation of these temporary rules. For further information on
these procedures, please contact
customer_support@globalgap.org<mailto:customer_support@globalgap.org>.

GLOBALG.A.P. will continue to provide regular updates and advice to
the key stakeholders (certification bodies, retailers, producers, and
trading companies) to ensure that producers can maintain their
certification status and the integrity of the GLOBALG.A.P.
certification process.
