Hundreds of Amazon workers, GMB members and local MPs are set to protest outside the company’s Coventry fulfilment centre today [Friday] in anger at pay and conditions.
Workers at the site are paid just £10.50 an hour despite the cost-of-living crisis.
Last September, Amazon reported paying £492m in tax the previous year – despite UK revenue soaring to £20.6billion in the pandemic. [1]
Amazon Coventry workers are fighting for £15 an hour.
Amanda Gearing, GMB Senior Organiser, said:
“Amazon workers in Coventry are overworked, underpaid and they’ve had enough.
“They’ve been given a 50p an hour pay rise during the worst cost of living crisis in a generation – and that’s from a company worth more than £1 trillion.
“We are here today to tell Amazon; if you want to keep your empire going, talk to GMB to improve the pay and conditions of workers.”
When: 5.30 – 7.00pm, Friday 25 November 2022
Where: Amazon Coventry, Sayer Drive, CV5 9FA
