Portugal is an active exporter of various goods and products.
In December 2022, the growth rates of exports and imports of goods showed positive trends, with nominal year-on-year increases of +9.5% and +9.1% respectively. However, these rates indicate a deceleration compared to the previous month, November 2022, when the growth rates were +18.6% for exports and +16.1% for imports. This deceleration can be attributed to a slowdown in prices, as indicated by the unit value indices (prices) which recorded year-on-year growth rates of +9.3% for exports and +12.6% for imports. In November 2022, these growth rates were slightly higher at +13.0% for exports and +14.1% for imports. It is important to note that these fluctuations in trade figures may have been influenced by the strike that occurred in national ports during December 2022.
