Pink drinks continue to dominate wine racks and drink cupboards across the UK as the nation prepares for ‘National Pink Day’, a day entirely dedicated to celebrating all things pink! Waitrose has reported sales of pink prosecco up 69 per cent in the last eight weeks and sales of champagne rosé and sparkling rosé up 66 per cent and 52 per cent respectively.
Following the warm weather at the beginning of June, we have seen strong demand for sales of rosé wine up 45% in the past four weeks, despite the rain, as customers have committed to switch to pink for the summer. Pink spirits also continue to climb in popularity with Warners Raspberry Gin up 18%, Cocchi Rosa Apéritif up 238% and Pimm’s No 1 Cup up 14%. New pink tipples including Rose Vermouth Belsazar Rose, Malfy Gin Rosa and Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz Gin have also proved popular in recent weeks.
On Waitrose.com recipes for pink cocktails such as sparkling cosmopolitan and strawberry daiquiri have seen a surge in searches up 50% and 100% respectively in the past month and searches for rose water recipes are up 25%.
