YORK, UK — Keells, one of the largest supermarket operators in Sri Lanka, is rolling out Cybake ISB software to control its in-store bakeries and fresh food counters.
Colombo-headquartered Keells was established in 1991 as a subsidiary of major Sri Lankan conglomerate John Keells Holdings PLC. Renowned for the quality of its fresh food, it operates bakeries in all its stores as well as prepared food counters for rice and curry dishes, salads, juice, doughnuts, and pizza.
Keells is already using Cybake ISB in 23 stores, with final rollout expected by September 2026.
York-based Cybake is the UK’s leading provider of bakery ERP software and has a fast-growing user base across North America and Australia. The company’s Cybake ISB solution is used by supermarkets, retail bakery chains and forecourt operators to forecast, plan, and control the production of fresh food made in their stores.
In Keells’ stores, Cybake ISB helps colleagues manage daily production activities more effectively by providing clear guidance on tablets.
The solution helps optimize production planning by aligning output with anticipated customer demand, ensuring teams are focused on producing the right products at the right time.
As well as supporting consistent execution across a wide range of products, the platform gives central teams greater visibility into store operations, enabling better coordination and informed decision-making. This enables Keells to deliver a more consistent customer experience while continuously improving operational performance.
Commenting on the rollout, Visal Perera, Head of Fresh Departments at Keells Supermarkets and Vice President of John Keells Group, says: “Our partnership with Cybake is an important step in the transformation of our prepared food business.
“As we continue to scale, having the right systems and processes in place is critical to ensuring consistent availability, reducing waste, and delivering a better experience for our customers. Cybake provides us with the visibility and planning capabilities needed to support our growth ambitions while maintaining operational excellence across our network.”
Cybake CEO Ali Lyons says: “Keells is such an impressive operation with a big focus on the quality of the fresh food it makes in its stores. As part of this project, I went to Sri Lanka and saw, first-hand, how committed the company is to operational excellence and their bold and innovative food-to-go plans.
“I am extremely proud that Keells chose Cybake to optimise its excellent prepared food counters and bakeries. Rollout will be complete by the end of September, and I can’t wait to return to Sri Lanka to see the results for myself.”
