REWE International to rely on Körber’s Warehouse Management System

REWE International AG has selected Körber’s Warehouse Management System (WMS) for deployment in approximately 40 European sites. K.Motion WMS was selected to optimize a complex process landscape while providing maximum flexibility to suit the multi-layered demands of the food and pharmacy retail business.

According to Michael Brandl, EVP Operations Software EMEA at Körber Business Area Supply Chain: “Today’s supply networks are fraught with difficulties. These include unexpected delivery bottlenecks, increased consumer demands, ever-expanding product lines, hybrid fulfillment approaches, and labor shortages. This results in much increasing expectations for efficiency and transparency in logistics operations, for which digital techniques are becoming essential in order to leverage new data usage and analytical potentials.”

The deployment will occur in two parts. Körber will pilot the WMS at five locations for dry and fresh assortments, as well as cross docking, until mid-2025. Simultaneously, the link to REWE’s current ERP system will be made. The further 35 properties will be transformed with the assistance of Körber via REWE International. The implementation is scheduled for 2028.

“The backing of a strong partner with established worldwide expertise, such as Körber, was vital for us. Furthermore, the solution enables our supply chain to fulfill not just today’s shifting retail requirements, but also those that may emerge in the future “Manfred Mülleder, Project Lead WMS at REWE International AG, adds. “One example is the WMS’s contemporary Business Process Engine, which enables us to adjust our business processes easily and promptly without additional work. We are looking forward to the future with the software platform provided by Körber, and we are well-prepared for both next automation initiatives and projected corporate expansion.”
