Walmart has surpassed Amazon as the most popular online supermarket.

In a poll for Chicory’s 2023 Online Grocery Shopping Report, Walmart knocked out Amazon as consumers’ favourite online grocer.

In the annual online grocery research released Thursday by Chicory, a CPG/grocery digital commerce platform located in New York, almost 1,000 e-grocery customers were asked about their buying habits. Though Walmart ranked first among online food shops, e-commerce behemoth Amazon had two of the top banners, with Amazon Fresh ranking second and Whole Foods Market ranking tenth.

Aldi was ranked third, The Kroger Company was ranked fourth, Costco Wholesale was ranked fifth, Albertsons Cos. was ranked sixth, Ahold Delhaize USA was ranked seventh, Target was ranked eighth, and H-E-B was ranked ninth. While on the app, survey participants utilizing a third-party online grocery platform, such as Instacart or Shipt, were encouraged to select the retailer they regularly purchase at.
