From 13 to 26 October, ALDI stores will once again support MSC’s Sustainable Fisheries Weeks.
Customers can contribute to the protection of marine ecosystems by purchasing a wide range of MSC-certified Golden Seafood, Almare Seafood, and Gourmet Finest Cuisine products.
Verona, 9 October 2025 – On the occasion of the Sustainable Fisheries Weeks, ALDI Italia, part of the ALDI SÜD Group — a leading multinational in the large-scale retail sector — reaffirms for the fourth consecutive year its commitment to ocean conservation by promoting responsible consumption choices through its participation in the initiative organised by the MSC – Marine Stewardship Council.
From 13 to 26 October, all ALDI stores across Italy will offer a wide selection of fish and seafood products sourced from sustainable fisheries certified according to the MSC Standard. These products, easily recognisable by the blue MSC label on their packaging, will be available both in the chilled and frozen sections.
The MSC certification, which applies to fish and seafood caught in seas and oceans, identifies products harvested in a sustainable way that ensures minimal impact on the marine ecosystem. It also safeguards the long-term health of fish populations, guarantees traceability from certified fisheries throughout the supply chain, and promotes effective fishery management. Thanks to these guarantees, consumers can make responsible choices without compromising on quality or freshness.
“Choosing MSC-certified products means making a responsible decision towards the environment, marine ecosystems, the supply chain, and consumers. Taking part in the Sustainable Fisheries Weeks offers ALDI a concrete opportunity to reaffirm our sustainability commitment, while actively raising customer awareness of the impact of daily choices that, in the long term, can make a real difference,” said Michael Gscheidlinger, Country Managing Director, ALDI Italia.
“The participation of retailers such as ALDI in the Sustainable Fisheries Weeks is a tangible example of ocean protection through the spread of responsible practices across the supply chain. Together, we can encourage sustainable fishing practices and promote greater consumer awareness,” added Paola Guglielmo, Corporate Relations Manager, MSC Italia.
ALDI’s product range offers a comprehensive selection of private-label options designed to suit every occasion — from quick dinners to barbecues with friends or family lunches — featuring delicious seafood specialities. In the chilled and frozen aisles, customers will find products such as breaded pollock fillets, natural tuna and pangasius portions, South African hake hearts, surimi, northern prawns, and crispy cod fillets — all MSC-certified to ensure sustainable fishing, or ASC-certified for responsibly farmed seafood
