In a move aimed at enhancing the in-store experience for its customers, Asda has teamed up with Costa Coffee to open a brand-new café inside its Tilbury Superstore. The partnership brings together one of the UK’s biggest supermarket chains and the nation’s leading coffee brand to create a community-friendly hub within the retail space.
The new café opened its doors today, offering shoppers a full Costa menu including barista-crafted hot and cold drinks, snacks, pastries, and light meals. The café’s modern, comfortable seating area is designed for customers to relax before or after shopping—or simply as a local destination for catching up with friends.
According to Asda, the café aligns with its mission to provide added value and convenience to its customer base.
“We know our customers love the Costa brand and the comfort it brings,” said an Asda spokesperson. “This collaboration brings a high-street café experience directly into our store, making their shopping trip more enjoyable and accessible.”
The opening is part of a broader strategy by Asda to modernize its larger format stores by introducing complementary services, including cafés, parcel pickup zones, and in some locations, healthcare services. If the Tilbury café proves successful, additional Costa Coffee locations may be introduced across other Asda sites in 2026.
This partnership also reflects the growing trend in the UK retail sector of blending foodservice with traditional grocery shopping—driven by consumer demand for convenience and experiential shopping.
