German Retail Shows Signs of Growth

Retail sales in Germany are improving. In 2024, sales went up by 1.1% compared to 2023. This is a good sign for the economy.

Experts expect sales to grow more in 2025. The forecast shows a small rise of 0.5% in real terms. In total value, sales could go up by 2%.

Still, many retailers are cautious. Almost half think their sales will be lower than last year. Only 22% expect to sell more.

Online shopping is doing better. Sales from online stores may grow by 4% in 2025. The total could reach €92.4 billion.

New online stores like Temu and Shein are helping this growth. They are becoming more popular with German shoppers.

In March 2024, sales rose by 1.8% from the month before. Food sales were strong, going up by 3.6%. Non-food items dropped slightly.

The warmer months may bring more good news. People often spend more in spring and summer.

Germany’s retail market is not booming, but it is stable. Slow growth is better than no growth at all.
