Strike in the Belgian Decathlon warehouse

A spontaneous strike broke out at the Decathlon distribution centre in Willebroek. About 100 employees stopped work this morning.

About a hundred warehouse workers who were supposed to start their morning shift at 6 o’clock this morning at Decathlon in Willebroek refused to go to work. They went on strike because a bonus was given to the shop staff, but not to the workers in the distribution centre.

The case dates back to last autumn: on 30 November, almost half of the staff went on strike because they did not receive a bonus for achieving their objectives. The survival of the warehouse has also been a concern for some time. According to the ACV union, deliveries are increasingly being made from abroad, while new employees are reportedly no longer given permanent contracts. However,  dialogue is difficult, the unions say.
