Lidl GB unveils hundreds of new store locations across Great Britain

Lidl GB has published its latest Site Requirements Brochure, identifying hundreds of potential locations across Great Britain for new store developments as part of its continued expansion strategy.

The discounter is actively seeking freehold, leasehold, or long-leasehold sites in prominent, accessible areas with strong footfall. It is also offering a competitive finder’s fee for anyone who identifies a previously unknown site that ultimately leads to a new store opening.

The newly released list spans the country, from Garthdee in Aberdeen and Aldgate in London to Ystradgynlais in Wales and Windsor in Berkshire, underlining Lidl’s nationwide growth ambitions.

Richard Taylor, Chief Real Estate Officer at Lidl GB, said:
“We currently have one of the most ambitious store opening programmes of any supermarket and are more committed than ever to bringing our high-quality, low-priced products to even more communities across the country.”

Each new store is expected to create high-quality local jobs, with entry-level hourly wages starting at £13.45 nationally, rising to £14.45 with service. In London, pay begins at £14.80 and increases to £15.30 over time.

Beyond retail, Lidl emphasises the broader community impact of its expansion. Stores contribute to local economies, support British suppliers, and provide surplus food donations to charities. Through its partnership with Neighbourly, Lidl delivered 18.5 million meals in a single year, supporting 6.8 million people in need.

Earlier this month, Lidl GB announced plans to open more than 50 new stores within the next year as part of a £600 million investment. The retailer has also maintained a 33-month streak as the UK’s fastest-growing bricks-and-mortar supermarket and surpassed 1,000 stores with the opening of its East Grinstead location last November.

To support this expansion, Lidl is strengthening its infrastructure, with construction of a new warehouse in Leeds progressing well and operations expected to begin next year.
