ALDI PARTNERS WITH MENTAL HEALTH UK TO ENHANCE SUPPORT FOR COLLEAGUES

Supermarket Aldi is joining forces with charity Mental Health UK to enhance the support provided for its 33,000 colleagues across the UK.

Announced ahead of Mental Health Awareness Week (18th-24th May), the two-year partnership will see a range of practical tools and guides launched to help colleagues and their families to look after their mental health, by changing their perception of mental health, and providing them with the confidence to have an open conversation about mental wellness.

Experts from Mental Health UK will offer advice and information on topics related to mental health, and signpost to support available to them from Aldi.

The partnership will complement Aldi’s existing Wellness Programme, which includes access to counselling, wellness coaching, financial wellbeing support, an online wellbeing platform and a 24/7 confidential helpline delivered by retailTRUST.

Sophie Smith, HR Director at Aldi, said: “It has never been more important to protect our mental health and support others as we navigate these uncertain times.

“Mental health is important for everyone, but with one in four of us experiencing a mental health problem, we know that many of our colleagues are likely to be impacted in some way. Our partnership will help us to do even more to tackle the stigma that still exists with mental health, and to bring even more support and guidance to our amazing colleagues across our stores, distribution network and head offices.”

Mental Health UK brings together more than 40 years of expertise from four national mental health charities to provide advice, information and support.

Brian Dow, Chief Executive at Mental Health UK said: “It’s easy to forget that many retail staff are on their own version of the front-line and without them right now performing their own heroics many of us would be facing a far more difficult time in what are already unprecedented circumstances. So we are absolutely thrilled to be playing our part in partnering with Aldi, working together over the coming two years to support colleagues’ mental health when they need it most.”
